Welcome to our BABY blog!!!

That's right...we are having a BABY! We found out this Awesome news on June 8, a few days before we took off for Vegas! Glad we got that trip out of our system, it will probably be a while before we make it back! But we sure did have a blast!

We are so excited about this new little member of our fabulous family! From what we can tell, it is already ADORABLE!

For the next several months, we are going to document our life preparing for the arrival of Baby Wilkins so stop by and check out our progress! Feel free to leave us comments along the way, we would love to see and hear from everyone that stops by our page!

14 weeks and 4 days...moving right along!!!

This week has been one busy week for us! We visited Paw-Paw in the hospital several times and in between visits, Scotty would put a few coats of paint on the walls... by the end of the week, the room was complete! We now have nice pretty yellow walls!!! I LOVE IT! The room is already so bright and cheery and just ready to welcome a happy baby!

Something else we did this week was take a gender prediction test...So its one of those at home tests that you take. I wasn't totally banking on it being correct, but I thought I would take it just for fun! I took the test on Saturday morning (you have to take it first thing in the morning for accuracy). The results will turn either Yellow/Orange if you are having a girl or Blue/Green if you are having a boy... The test takes 10 min to complete. I took the test and left it for about 7 min... I went back in to find...the darkest GREEN ever!!!!!!! So, because I think I am having a girl, I decided that MAYBE I should wait a few more minutes... well, the result did not change.... so for now, I just don't know what I am having. I guess this is just a reminder that I will get what God has chosen for me! :) My sister said that it was probably a good idea that I took this test, that way if it is a boy, I won't start crying at the doctors office! haha... maybe she is right! :)

Either way, I am just thankful for this little baby...even more thankful that he/she has not given me morning sickness... maybe this baby will turn out more like his/her daddy...pretty calm...because we all know if this baby is anything like me, we will have our hands full!

I have posted a pic of the gender prediction test....so you can all see for yourself, the DARK GREEN!!!

BABY at 14 weeks:

Now the size of your clenched fist, your baby is more fluid-like in his movements, so he’s no longer doing the jerk every time he repositions his arms and legs. Other developments this week include a roof of his own (inside his mouth, that is) as well as intestinal activity: His/her intestines are producing meconium (which is the waste that will make up his first bowel movement after birth). He/she is also sporting a downy coating of hair (lanugo) that keeps him nice and warm. Not to worry — you won't give birth to a monkey; baby fat will accumulate over the next few months and take over the function of keeping your baby warm and toasty —allowing most of that hair to shed.

  4. Candace.....i seriously laughed out loud when i read your last post....You crack me up. I cant even tell you how bad i wanted a GIRL....and when you want something that bad most likely you wont get it. Im not going to lie, i was a bit dissapointed when we found out that we were having a boy, but after it really sunk in I was actually very happy....You know i keep telling myself that God gives you what you can handle and in this case he's right, I NEEDED a little boy who is just like mini Ilya. Now i can honestly say that i will be so happy if we have NOTHING but little boys! Plus boys are much easier to handle when they are teens than girls! LOVE YOU keep the updates coming!!!!

  5. Remember what I said... I thought you were having a boy from the beginning;-). Always listen to your good friend Sara... her intuitions are usually right.
